Chronicle — Privacy Policy

Chronicle ("the App", "we", "us") is developed by Busy Bee Software. This Privacy Policy explains
what information the App collects, how it is used, and the choices you have. By using Chronicle,
you agree to the practices described in this policy.
1. Information We Collect
1.1 Information you provide directly
- Account details — email address and password (or sign-in provider details) used to create your Chronicle account.
- Journal & dream entries — text you write in the Journal and Dreams tabs.
- Mood logs — daily mood selections.
- Calendar events — titles, dates, times, locations, notes, and invitee email addresses you enter.
- Tasks, habits, and goals — content you create in the Tasks section.
- Birth details — birth date, time, and place, used only to generate your natal chart and horoscope readings.
- Budget & expenses — amounts and descriptions you log in the Local/Budget tab.
- Voice input — if you use the microphone/dictation feature, audio is processed by your device's speech-to-text engine and is not stored or transmitted by Chronicle.
1.2 Information collected automatically
- Device location — approximate location (with your permission) used for weather, local events, tide times, and fuel prices. You can deny or revoke this permission at any time in your device settings.
- Device calendar data — if you choose to import events, the App reads your device's calendar accounts (Google Calendar, Samsung Calendar, etc.) only after you grant calendar permission and tap "Connect."
- Push notification token — a device identifier used solely to deliver reminders and notifications you've enabled.
- Usage data — basic, non-identifying technical data (app version, device type, crash logs) used to diagnose and fix bugs.
2. How We Use Your Information
- To provide the core features of the App — your planner, journal, tasks, habits, and astrology readings.
- To generate AI-powered content (journal insights, dream analysis, meal plans, horoscopes, local event suggestions) — see Section 3 for details on how this works.
- To send reminders and notifications you have enabled.
- To process subscription payments through the Apple App Store or Google Play Billing.
- To improve app stability and performance.
We do not sell your personal data, and we do not use your journal, dream, or mood content for advertising purposes.
3. AI Features & Third-Party Processing
Certain features (AI journal insights, dream analysis, meal plan generation, horoscopes, and local event search)
send the relevant text you provide to Google Gemini via a secure server-side proxy that we operate.
Only the content necessary to generate the response is sent — for example, your journal entry text for an insight,
or your birth chart data for a horoscope. We do not attach your name, email, or account identifiers to these requests.
Google's use of this data is governed by the
Gemini API Additional Terms of Service.
4. Third-Party Services We Use

5. Data Storage & Security
Your data is stored in a private Supabase database with row-level security, meaning only your authenticated
account can access your own records. Data in transit is encrypted via HTTPS/TLS. While we take reasonable steps
to protect your information, no method of electronic storage is 100% secure, and we cannot guarantee absolute security.
6. Your Rights & Choices
- Access & export — you may request a copy of your data at any time by contacting us.
- Deletion — you may delete your account and all associated data from within the App's Settings, or by contacting us.
- Notifications — you can disable any or all push notifications in Settings → Notifications.
- Location — you can revoke location permission at any time in your device's app settings; weather and local features will be unavailable as a result.
- Calendar access — you can revoke calendar permission at any time; this only affects the Import feature, not events already added to Chronicle.
7. Children's Privacy
Chronicle is not directed at children under 13 (or the relevant minimum age in your jurisdiction), and we do
not knowingly collect personal information from children. If you believe a child has provided us with personal
information, please contact us and we will delete it.
8. Data Retention
We retain your data for as long as your account remains active. If you delete your account, your personal
data is permanently removed from our systems within 30 days, except where retention is required by law.
9. Changes to This Policy
We may update this Privacy Policy from time to time. We will notify you of material changes via an in-app
notice or by updating the "Last updated" date above. Continued use of the App after changes take effect
constitutes acceptance of the revised policy.
